Tesco speaks to the garden industry
Predicting sales in the next six months has never been more difficult. Will the garden industry prove recession resistant? Who will benefit as the pound and oil prices plunge? Never has it been more important for directors to get into the marketplace and hear what other people are thinking.
The first GIMA Business meeting of 2009 will give a great opportunity for manufacturers and retailers to mingle and hear the views of speakers who will have a more intelligent guess than many on what the year holds.
The multiple retailers will be represented by Peter Groves, the Leisure Category Director of Tesco, who will talk about supplying their business. Caroline Owen, who is also deputy chairman of the HTA, will present the view of an independent garden centre owner.
On the supply side, speakers include David Hibbert, joint MD of cash and carry chain Stax; Jonathan Halford, CEO of Forest Garden; and Keith Boad, sales director of The Scotts Company.
Maryanne Stokes, Sales and Marketing Manger at Vital Earth, and Chair of GIMAs’ Membership Committee said, “With a great speaker line up like this, the venue should be bulging at the seams.” The meeting will be held at Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire on the 29th January and is open to non-members.
