Michael Hall retires from Fallen Fruits

After more than 30 years, Michael Hall is taking his well-earned retirement, stepping down as Managing Director of Fallen Fruits Ltd. His retirement took effect as of 1 April, 2025.
Michael co-founded the company in 1993 together with his wife Jayne, and what started as a small family business has grown into a trusted name in garden and giftware. In 1999, Fallen Fruits was formally incorporated and over the years, Michael steered the company to a nationally recognised and respected supplier with a broad and loyal customer base.
Having already worked together since 1994, Dutch garden lifestyle brand, Esschert Design, acquired Fallen Fruits in 2023, deepening even further the relationship between the two companies. Michael made sure Fallen Fruits stayed true to its roots while merging with a larger group.
Now, with his retirement ahead, the company is ready for its next chapter and James Brindle became Managing Director on 1st April, 2025. He joined the business two years ago and has worked closely with Michael through this phase of transition. James brings a wealth of experience in business strategy, he has an excellent understanding of the brand and more than 20 years Garden and DIY market experience. “Michael built something special,” said James. “It’s an honour to follow in his footsteps. I’m excited to build upon the strong foundations he laid and to guide Fallen Fruits into its next phase of innovation and growth.”
The company will remain based in Ludlow, together with its long standing team, cementing its values and commitment to staff and customers.
Everyone at Fallen Fruits, and across the Esschert group, thanks Michael for his leadership and care. We wish him a happy, well-earned and fulfilling retirement.
