It’s Gold all round for The Apple Tree

The restaurant, which reflects the ethos of the farm shop, won Gold for the very first time and this is a particularly pleasing result for the whole team led by Cath Collins who commented: “This Gold award from Taste of the West is a magnificent result for our restaurant team. We started to make changes to the restaurant towards the end of last year and so to receive such a prestigious award in such a short amount of time shows that we are on exactly the right track.
 
“We are so proud of the Farm Shop too and the way that this has developed to be a hub for local produce.  Now, for local food and drink whether to eat in the restaurant or to take home from the farm shop Brimsmore is firmly on the map,” said Cath.    
 
The Taste of the West Hospitality & Retail Awards provide an opportunity for businesses in the West Country to gain recognition for supporting and promoting local producers.

The Apple Tree Farm Shop and Restaurant, which is part of The Gardens Group, came up against stiff competition. Top marks were given for its commitment to local sourcing and communication of this on the menu. Judges said, “If something could possibly be sourced locally then it had been.” The two establishments were also judged on the quality of service, atmosphere, cleanliness and the staff knowledge of the produce on offer.
