Hillier Nurseries Trainee Programme champions next generation of growers
Hillier Nurseries has recruited four trainee growers as part of the company’s ongoing investment in the future and the development of its production team.
The trainees, who have all been selected based upon their horticultural skills and passion to learn more about the industry, are now busy working across the entire nursery business, learning vital skills from each team. Training also includes a number of internally delivered modules, including Plant Physiology & Nomenclature, Pest & Disease Recognition and Control, Crop Irrigation and Nutrition.
Hillier has a rich growing heritage gained over more than 150 years. Inspiring future generations is a key aim for the company and the Nurseries trainee grower programme allows passing on of age-old growing techniques and experience as a foundation to develop the latest technologies and innovations.
Charles Carr, Head of the Wholesale Nurseries at Hillier, said: “We strongly believe in investing in people, which is why our team is constantly evolving. Our four new recruits have made a great start and we look forward to helping their horticultural careers grow!”
Hillier, which employs more than 500 people across its wholesale nursery, trees and garden centre visions, will have a lot to offer the new growers and will provide a great platform to launch their horticultural careers.
Sarah Mills, Head of Wholesale at Hillier, commented: “Hillier is proud of our new trainee growers who all bring with them enthusiasm, horticultural knowledge and the ambition to do a great job. They will work, learn and develop alongside our already strong and focused nursery team.”
