Gordon McGill decides to retire
I was in the RAF for 5 years then House of Fraser for 5 years joined A R Findlay (Hardware Wholesaler) in 1976 for 2 years and in 1978 joined Fisons.
I was Salesman of The Year in 1983 and promoted to National Accounts Manager in 1984. I had a major stroke in December 1995 and returned to work in February 1997 with the then Levington. I took early retirement in March 1999 exactly 21 years from my joining Fisons.
5 days later Scotts asked me to return as a Consultant. I worked on with them for a few years and eventually joined Humax until Scotts bought them over. I joined Home Hardware Scotland in 2009 and all in have worked in hardware and gardening trade for over 30 years.
Feel I am leaving with out letting my many friends know.
Here’s a picture from my days at Fisons in taken in 1984. From left to right they are David Toby, Roger Barnard, John Kelly, Peter Dickenson, John Oxtoby, John Cameron, Keith Muxworthy, John Griggs, Gordon McGill, Martin Cambridge.
