Craft Advisor has career all sewn up

Company: Monkton Elm Garden Centre

Chloe Heilbronn from Taunton has recently been appointed as a Craft Advisor at a craft centre in Somerset after successfully completing a 12 month apprenticeship scheme.

The 18-year-old finished her apprenticeship programme at the end of May (2013) and has been taken on permanently at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre’s Craft Centre.

Chloe said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as Craft Advisor. Working in the Craft Centre has been a great way for me to get hands-on experience of the industry.

“I also get to work with and talk to expert crafters who visit the centre, such as knitters Sally Stephens and Isabelle Caillet, which helps me develop my craft skills too.”

The specialist Craft Centre, which was launched in 2008, sells a wide range of papercraft supplies and knitting yarns, as well as ribbons, buttons and more. It offers helpful advice to all customers and has a range of classes and free demonstrations all year round.

Norma Moore, General Manager of the award-winning, independent, family-run garden centre in Monkton Heathfield, said: “We’re delighted with Chloe and how well she has done since starting her apprenticeship with us in May 2012.

“She has very quickly grasped the skills required to work in the Craft Centre and her knowledge of our crafts has meant she has quickly been able to advise our customers.

“Chloe has developed a good working knowledge of all the areas of the Craft Centre business and is now adept at chatting to people about knitting, sewing, card making and all other aspects of her work.

“We’d like to congratulate Chloe on her new role as Craft Advisor and wish her a long and successful career here at the garden centre.”
