BEM for Garden Centre owner
Robin Mercer, managing director of Hillmount Garden Centre has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to business and the economy in Northern Ireland in the New Year honours.
Hillmount has centres in Bangor, Belfast and Newtownards in Northern Ireland and one in England, at Warrington in Cheshire. The business was founded by Mr Mercer's grandfather in 1940 and Robin is the third generation to own the business.
