Rosebourne secures permission for canopy at Weyhill
An Andover garden centre has secured planning permission to increase its undercover retail and catering facilities with the extension of an outdoor canopy.
The team at Rosebourne Garden Centre in Weyhill worked with business development and town planning experts at Malcolm Scott Consultants to develop proposals to enable the centre to increase its undercover space in order to showcase a wider product range, create a clear route through the sales area and enhance its customers’ experience.
Andrew Burton, of Malcolm Scott Consultants, said: “This extension is a really good example of how proactive businesses are focused on providing facilities to meet customer demand. The canopy at Rosebourne Weyhill increases external seating in the restaurant and also gives the garden centre more undercover space for its plant offering.
“We have been working with clients in a few different ways to support garden centres and farm shops looking to increase seating opportunity, and this development is a good one because it combines catering and retail to deliver a joined up development to benefit both customers and the business.
“The canopy also offers flexibility for retail and catering use in the future, and as seasons and customer needs change, this should support Rosebourne in many different ways moving forward,” he said.
Carol Paris, CEO of Rosebourne, added: “As we know, the past 18 months have been a time of change and reflection within the sector as a whole, and developments such as this are important to us to add to our customer experience and improve our facilities as we look to the future.”
