Greenfingers Charity Celebrates a Transformative Summer of Garden Projects

The Greenfingers Charity is marking a landmark summer with a series of transformative garden installations across children's hospices in the UK. Each space—designed to nurture rest, play, reflection, and connection—offers therapeutic environments tailored to the unique needs of children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Five major gardens have taken root this season:

  • The Rest & Reflect Garden at The Nook hospice in Norwich, designed by Ann-Marie Powell, opened in June and offers tranquil wildflower meadows and peaceful seating for quiet contemplation.
  • Hope House in Oswestry will unveil the Gathering Heart Garden in September, a dynamic, sensory-rich space crafted by CW Studio and Landstruction.
  • Chestnut Tree House in Arundel is nearing completion of its Kitchen Garden, combining edible planting with ecological engagement, designed by Fisher Tomlin & Bowyer.
  • Sheffield’s Bluebell Wood Hospice prepares to welcome the Together Garden, which debuted at RHS Wentworth and features 95% recycled materials.
  • And at Acorns Hospice in Walsall, the Centred Play Garden opens this October, promising inclusive interaction for children of all abilities.

Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communication at Greenfingers, said:

“These gardens aren’t just beautiful; they’re meaningful. They’re places to play, to learn, to grow, and simply be together.  Each one reflects the spirit of the hospice it belongs to, and we feel incredibly lucky to work with such passionate designers, landscapers, hospice teams and of course all those who support our work in so many ways.”
