British Garden Centres raises £52,000 for Greenfingers Charity

Company: British Garden Centres

British Garden Centres has celebrated a remarkable fundraising year by presenting Greenfingers Charity with an impressive £52,000, significantly surpassing its 2024 total of £30,000. The achievement reflects a sustained commitment to supporting the charity throughout its 25th anniversary year, with teams across all 73 centres joining in nationwide activities.

A standout moment of the year was Garden Re-Leaf Day, which generated £20,000 alone. From bake sales and raffles to tombolas, car washes, and competitions, colleagues and customers came together with creativity and enthusiasm. Tring Garden Centre played a central role, hosting the Southern Garden Re-Leaf Walk to boost fundraising even further.

Fundraising continued throughout the year with imaginative and community-focused events. Tring Garden Centre once again drew crowds for its popular Charity Quiz and Shopping Night. Meanwhile, British Garden Centres helped elevate Greenfingers’ presence at national horticultural events, including the Harrogate Spring Flower Show and BBC Gardeners’ World Live, supplying plants and supporting showcase gardens marking the charity’s milestone anniversary.

The support extended beyond financial contributions. Members of the British Garden Centres team volunteered their time at St Andrew’s Hospice, refreshing outdoor spaces to create more welcoming environments for children and families. The spirited Dragon Boat Race team also returned to the water, adding to the year’s fundraising total while demonstrating teamwork and dedication.

Greenfingers Charity, which creates and maintains therapeutic gardens in children’s hospices across the UK, described the donation as “astonishing” and praised the generosity and kindness of everyone involved. British Garden Centres’ leadership shared their pride in the continuing partnership and the positive impact made by colleagues and customers across the country.

As the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group, British Garden Centres continues to demonstrate how collaboration, community energy and a shared purpose can help transform outdoor spaces in hospice settings, bringing comfort, joy and colour to families when they need it most.
