Garden retail’s finest to speak at Garden Centre Expo

The speakers listed to speak at this month’s Garden Centre Expo are some of the most successful operators and advisers in the UK today.

The involvement of such influential garden centre people is impressive.  There are three theatres running in parallel over the two days of the first Garden Centre Expo.

The sessions open with the UK’s most successful garden centre entrepreneur, Alan Roper, revealing some of the lessons he has learned over 25 years as Managing Director of Blue Diamond.

Over the next 2 days, talks will cover topics that include: best practices for operating a profitable garden centre; fostering employee growth; the future of garden retail through the eyes of the next generation; marketing tactics for reaching younger consumers; creating a destination garden centre with innovative catering solutions; beating theft; overcoming buying challenges in garden retail and more.

Speakers

Speakers include leading garden centre operators: Mike Burks of the Gardens Group, Mark Farnsworth of Yorkshire Garden Centres, Vicky Pugh of Pughs garden centre, Amy Stubbs of British Garden Centres and Liam Cleary of the Old Railway Line and Sam Bosworth, Neil Grant and Simon Bourne.

Other speakers include Paul Pleydell, Alison Haywood, Edwin Meijer, Yolanda Valery, Holly Daulby, Aaron Rudman-Hawkins and Kay Griffiths.

There are 25 sessions, most with multiple speakers and panel sessions. Garden Centre Expo will run at the ExCeL London on 15-16 October.

Exhibitors

A look at the list of 250 exhibitors will show that Garden Centre Expo is not an alternative to Glee.  There is little duplication of stands.  While Glee is product led and a show for buyers, Garden Centre Expo is focussed more on the services and skills required to operate a successful business in garden retail and restaurants.
