Oxenwood returns to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and announces partnership with Hortus Loci

Company: Oxenwood

Premium, bespoke furniture brand, Oxenwood, is returning to the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May and, to enhance its stand, has partnered with renowned plant nursery, Hortus Loci.

This comes as part of a wider partnership with the nursery, with Oxenwood’s furniture now being on display at the Hortus Loci Plant Centre in Hampshire, creating a new outdoor showroom area for Oxenwood customers to visit and see the beauty of the furniture first hand.

RHS Chelsea is a particularly special show for Oxenwood as it was a pivotal platform in the company’s growth. The brand was shortlisted for the coveted Garden Product of the Year at the 2019 show and has since become one of the leading names in luxury garden furniture.

The stand

The stand will showcase Oxenwood's timeless designs, seamlessly integrated among lush greenery from Hortus Loci, offering visitors inspiration for their own outdoor spaces. As specialists in large format tables topped with exquisite fossilised Belgian Bluestone, the centrepiece of the stand will be the ever-popular 3.8m long Hagen table, complete with integrated parasols. Alongside this will be a selection of other large format designs of the Aubrey and the Marcus, with matching benches. The stand will also feature a Quintus circular table, perfect for inspiring those with smaller homes and gardens or looking to create a cosy nook in the garden.

The simplicity of Oxenwood’s designs will be complemented by the Hortus Loci planting scheme. Two single-stem specimen trees will frame the entrance to add height, and a selection of herbs and grasses will be organically scattered into the gravel to create the authentic feel of a garden. Oxenwood’s tables will be framed by tall, thick hedging, and various-sized topiary balls will be sculpted throughout the stand to add further inspiration.

Charlie Alexander, Oxenwood’s founder, said: “We are so excited to be returning to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, to be partnering with the wonderful Hortus Loci. We’ve long been in conversations around how we can work together, particularly being located so closely to one another and very much sharing the same ethos around sustainability and design, so it’s brilliant to be able to bring this together for Chelsea and then have our tables on display at their beautiful nursery.”

"We have great admiration for Oxenwood and the furniture they create. The quality of their products is exceptional, and their customer care, delivery, and installation services are parallel to the standards we aspire to provide at Hortus Loci so, it was an obvious choice for us to collaborate with them!” said Robin Wallis, Director of Hortus Loci. “For the Oxenwood stand at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, we are designing a formal garden with feature trees and topiary, filled with lovely wavy grasses and a few Mediterranean plants scattered throughout. Our aim is to create a paired-back aesthetic with pops of muted colour and highlight the incredible furniture against a backdrop of silvers, whites, and pale blues. Our planting design is carefully curated to complement the furniture, and as always, we strive to be as environmentally responsible as possible with our practices. We are excited to support the Oxenwood stand this year and bring their vision to life!"

Service expansion

A unique element of the stand will be the rare use of Belgian Bluestone to pave the 67sq metre stand. Oxenwood has been utilising Belgian Bluestone to craft artisan tabletops since its creation in 2014 and has become renowned for this unique aspect, using pieces of natural history formed over 350 million years ago. Excitingly, Oxenwood has recently announced that it is extending its services to supply and distribute this highly sought-after material for custom fixtures such as windowsills, terraces, paving, and worktops.

Stand relocation

In keeping with both organisations’ core value of sustainability, following the conclusion of the Chelsea Flower Show, much of the stand will be "recycled" and moved to Hortus Loci's Hampshire nursery, demonstrating the pairs’ commitment to being responsible RHS exhibitors. The relocation will act as a destination for clients to plan all elements of their garden design and view Oxenwood’s furniture in person whilst browsing for complementary trees, shrubs and plants.

Oxenwood and Hortus Loci invite visitors to explore the incredible stand, be inspired to replicate a beautiful outdoor dining space at home and see that prioritising luxury doesn’t mean having to compromise on sustainability.
