NORTHERN COUNTIES
  • Armitage’s Pennine Garden Centre - Celebrity Garden Quiz
  • Armitage’s Birchencliffe Garden Centre - Celebrity Garden Quiz
  • Barton Grange Garden Centre - The main emphasis for fund raising will be on the Greenfingers wishing tree. The general idea is to sell Garden Re-Leaf hands that can be painted, coloured, put a message on and hung on a tree to create a huge 3D tree full of hands. There are lots of other whacky events taking place, and the Quiz will be held in the evening.
  • Bents Garden and Home - The celebrity gardening quiz, a raffle for planted containers, potato and other demonstrations, the in-house Plant Doctor and suppliers giving advice. Great plant offers and lots more.
  • Birkacre Garden Centre - All sorts of things including the quiz, raffle and demonstrations.
  • Cowell’s Garden Centre - Working with John Woods Nurseries to provide an exceptional 'Personal Shopping Experience' throughout the day. Nigel Goodall from John Woods has kindly donated his time for customers to bring along photos and plans of area they wish to improve. This is a FREE service but emphasis will be made that it’s a charity day and donations are welcome. John Woods and Cowell's Garden Centre to provide 10 FULL barrows of plants for raffle on the day. John Woods to provide a SPECIAL SECRET SPECIMEN PLANT for either sealed bids or raffle.
  • Grosvenor Garden Centre - Superhero Grosvenorman and his guerrilla gardeners will surprise residents and community projects in the Chester area by brightening up their day (and weeks and months to come) on Tuesday 13th March. A Children’s Plant Workshop at Hope House Children’s Hospice will provide patients with the chance to plant and learn how to care for plants. The hospice is home to a Greenfingers garden, so the workshop will aim to inspire the children to take an avid interest in this and raise awareness of Garden Re-leaf Day. Staff at the Garden Centre will be getting involved too with a guerrilla project to revive an area at the front of the Centre. 6th-13th March Grosvenor's chosen charity - Greenfingers.
  • Langlands Garden Centres - Celebrity Garden Quiz
  • Rolawn Ltd - Sunday 11th March, Sales & Marketing Director, Jonathan Hill will be doing a sponsored bike ride; he's visiting all Rolawn's turf fields in the Vale of York - a 70 mile ride! Emily Kirkland, Customer Services Manager, has started a sponsored slim today until 29th February. We're also having a fancy dress day on 13th March, everyone pays for the privilege of being allowed to dress up and anyone who doesn't dress up has to pay considerably more!
  • Shackletons Home & Garden Centre - Celebrity Garden Quiz
  • Timmermans Garden Centre - Coffee, Cake & THE Quiz. Plus a Pot-on-athon – customers bring along their containers for potting by our staff for a donation to the charity. Children can pot up planters for Mother's Day or just sow some seeds to take home. Free Seeds for Notts Schools – A give away of over 1000 packets of seeds to schools across Nottinghamshire to encourage them to get growing! We are currently helping our local school establish vegetable beds and a new sensory garden so we hope to coincide finishing this work with Garden Re-Leaf. Chari-Tea Dance at 3 – a traditional afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones and cake, with some 'Strictly' thrown in!
  • William Sinclair Horticulture - This national supplier of composts, fertilisers and accessories is a staunch supporter of Greenfingers. Local schools are invited to donate just £5 on www.justgiving.com/williamsinclair1 and receive a kit of nasturtium seeds, pots, compost and instructions for a class of 30 (Retail would be almost £20!). These easy to grow plants will pop up before the Easter break for the children to take home and plant up. Children will be encouraged to donate a further £1 each. All proceeds to Garden Releaf and Greenfingers.
SCOTLAND
  • Barholm Castle - The restored gardens will host a ‘Name the Plant’ Quiz, with a day of gardening by the recently acquired Cree Landscape Company as the prize. Tea and cakes in the Great Hall help to raise funds.
THE MIDLANDS
  • Barnet Hill Garden & Leisure, Melbicks Garden & Leisure, Gardenlands Garden & Leisure, Percy Thrower's Garden & Leisure - Come to our special 'Garden Surgery Day' for advice and inspiration from our panel of experts. You are invited to bring along photos or problem plants for our panel to look at and discuss. Our experts will be available from 10am - 4pm. Customers are welcome to make a donation towards Greenfingers in exchange for advice and tips from our experts. Win Your Own Plant Guru! We will be holding an auction via sealed bids for a chance to win a member of the plant department for the day to work in your garden. There will also be a ‘Greenfingers’ treasure hunt for the Children.
  • Fresh at Burcot Garden Centre - The ‘Growing Tomatoes into Money’ project is linked closely with local schools. On the day they will receive a ‘kit’ containing all they need to grow Sutton’s tomato plants. The children will grow the tomatoes and use them to raise money for Greenfingers, either by selling the plants, growing them to sell the fruit or turning the fruit into soup, chutney etc. We should be able to generate some PR through working with the schools and hopefully get the local paper interested. Thanks to Stewarts Pots, Scotts Miracle-Gro and Suttons Seeds for providing the kit contents.
  • James Coles & Sons (Nurseries) Ltd - Not a retail outlet, but nevertheless getting behind the campaign by participating in the Celebrity Quiz
  • Studley Garden Centre - Celebrity Garden Quiz
  • Podington Garden Centre - Another ‘Celebrity Garden Quiz’ participant, in spite of being in the middle of some development work!
  • Webbs of Wychbold - A team from Webbs in Wychbold and West Hagley will be dashing around the firm’s chosen charities St Richard’s, Acorns, Primrose, Kemp and Mary Stevens Hospices, to brighten up the important outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy. They will be creating a new garden vista for a bedroom at St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester with the help of Bransford Webbs Plant Company; building raised planters at Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove; creating hanging baskets for the sensory garden and entrances at Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge; brightening up Kemp Hospice in Kidderminster with planters and a raised veg plot for patients; and developing a vegetable and herb garden as a project for the patients at Acorns in Worcester.
EASTERN COUNTIES
  • Alton Garden Centre - Alton is holding potentially the biggest Celebrity Gardening Quiz in the country. 12 teams from local Horticultural Clubs are already signed up for the evening and the well-known local Garden Expert, Ken Crowther, is the Quiz Master. Digby’s Restaurant is providing a fantastic feast. During the day staff will be doing silly things in silly costumes, and getting ‘cash for questions’ the customers ask.
  • Aylett Nurseries Ltd - A March Mad Hatters Day on Tuesday 13th March, where members of staff and customers are being asked to customise or make a mad hat, make a donation and wear their hat. A Tree of Wishes: Wishes can be purchased from our tree to purchase equipment for the Hospice Gardens. Wishes will range from £1.00 to £1,000. A Tombola with various gardening prizes, tickets £1.00, and finally: The Celebrity Gardening Quiz, teams of 6, £12.00 a table. Refreshment: Cheese and Wine, with prizes for the winning team.
  • Baytree Nurseries & Garden Centre - The team at Baytree are working with Johnsons Seeds on Garden Re-Leaf Day.
  • Beth Chatto Gardens Ltd - A delicious buffet lunch is being offered in the tearooms, followed by a talk on ‘Gardens in Japan – Refining Nature’ given by Dr. Jill Raggett of Writtle College. Booking is essential. £10 minimum suggested donation
  • Burston Rose and Garden Centre - Celebrity Garden Quiz

  • Perrywood Garden Centre - Celebrity Garden Quiz
  • Scotsdale Garden Centre - The Scotsdale team have thrown down the gauntlet to all other fundraisers. If anyone raises more than Scotsdales they will receive the SCOTSDALE TROPHY and a hamper of goodies. With lots going on, not just on the day but over the last few months, this could be a huge target to beat. They are also holding the Celebrity Quiz. Bayer Garden will be helping to raise awareness and funds for Greenfingers. With celebrity gardener David Domoney attending, an exciting raffle and superb product hampers up for grabs, it is sure to be a great day! As well as David helping gardeners on the day with their gardening problems, the top raffle prize is a Garden Makeover with the celebrity gardener himself. David will go to one lucky person’s home and help them make the most of their garden with useful tips and advice on garden design and care. Raffle tickets will be on sale at Scotsdales throughout the week, with the prize draw on Saturday 17th March. The event is being sponsored by Bayer Garden’s Phostrogen brand. Bayer Garden staff will be at hand to advise customers on gardening queries and promote Garden Re-Leaf’s motto of ‘have a go’. With all of this going on, Garden Re-Leaf day at Scotsdales is looking to be a fantastic event, helping to kick start the gardening season and support Greenfingers!
THE WEST COUNTRY and WALES
  • Cadbury Garden & Leisure, Endsleigh Garden & Leisure - As other Garden & Leisure centres above
  • Cleeve Nursery - With bare trees and shrubs and unplanted pots of compost, customers will be able to buy leaves and flowers to hang on these bare plants to 'Re-leaf' the garden. Each leaf or flower having a set value of an item needed to make a garden, e.g. £1.50 for a packet of seeds, £5.00 for a bag of compost, £30.00 for a wheel barrow etc. Plus a raffle with donations from suppliers.
  • GCG Sanders Garden World - Some of the Garden Centre Group centres will be participating. Sanders is holding a Grand fashion show in conjunction with Edinburgh Woollen Mill, auction, and many other fundraising activities.
  • Groves Nurseries - Visit their web site www.grovesnurseries.co.uk to see just how this company has really got behind the campaign. 10 local primary schools are taking part in the garden on a pallet competition. Vital Earth has kindly sponsored the compost for this. Wessex FM radio is potentially broadcasting from the centre on the day.   • Raglan Garden Centre - Celebrity Quiz with a twist. The challenge is to beat the ‘home’ team
  • St Bridget Nurseries & Garden Centres - Nursery Propagation Tours, with participants getting 2 free trays for seedlings/cuttings. PLUS “A garden for Mum” – children’s garden in a seed tray competition. Free for children age 13 yrs and under. Super prizes for the winners collecting the most money as voted for by the public.   • Suttons Seeds - The Suttons Team will be transforming an outside area at 'Mayfield School' in Torquay into a Sensory Garden. This special needs school caters for children with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties. All the 5 senses will be tantalised by plants such as long lavender for the children to walk through, curry plants for smell, and microgreens for taste. Many of the children are wheelchair bound so raised beds and our Vegtrugs will be used, making it easily reachable for everybody.

THE SOUTH

  • Forest Lodge Garden Centre - On the day we will be visiting 6+ local schools with the aim of starting them gardening in 2012. We will be providing them with seeds, compost and containers to grow flowers and vegetables. We will be maintaining contact with the schools by more visits but also encouraging them to visit us during the spring.
  • Haskins Garden Centres - all Haskins Garden Centres at Roundstone, Ferndown and West End will be joining in the fun.
  • Hillier Garden Centres - Hilliers will be supporting the campaign at all their outlets.
  • Longacres Garden Centre Ltd - A great big raffle!
  • Millbrook Garden Company, Crowborough and Gravesend - Celebrity quiz, plus lots of other fun activities during the day. The amazing 'Red Barrows' will be swooping for a Spring Clean on, amongst others, 3 gardens they have worked with before – one a wildlife garden, another for an alzheimers home and another at a nursery school.
  • Squires Garden Centres - All fourteen of the Squires Garden Centres will be joining in the fun on Garden Re-Leaf Day. Contact Karen Smith at group marketing for details.
NATIONAL CAMPAIGNS AND SPONSORS
  • Thompson and Morgan Seeds - 50,000 Garden Releaf labelled packs of the Alan Titchmarsh branded Rudbeckia ‘Cherry Brandy’ are to be distributed to any retail outlet eager to sell them at their till points. Normally priced at £2.99, these will be offered for a minimum £1 per pack contribution from garden centre and nursery customers. They may then wish to participate in the GREAT SEED SOWING CHALLENGE on GARDEN RELEAF DAY. Watch out for more details coming soon.
  • Westland Horticulture has pledged a whole LORRY LOAD of compost to the Retailer they consider produces the best PR for the day’s events.
  • Scotts Miracle-Gro is offering a fully funded Garden Party hosted by Miracle-Gro for the retailer judged to have the best display of their Expand ’n Gro™ compost during January and February. This could be HUGE. Not just a Gardeners Question Time, demos and talks, but ALSO A Guinness World Record breaking Cream Tea Party for up to 500 guests could be YOURS, and if your store isn’t big enough, then Scotts Miracle-Gro will find a location for you.
  • John Woods Nurseries has pledged four of their managers to work within four customers’ centres for the day and each will have a generous plant budget to contribute as prizes
  • Kelkay Products has produced the delightful and cheeky ‘Digby’ character available through garden centres, with £2 from every sale going to Greenfingers
  • Massive Potato Planting - Over 400,000 primary schoolchildren from over 16,000 schools will be marking Garden Re-Leaf day and the start of the gardening year by planting chitted potato tubers. The children will harvest their crops in mid-June and could win prizes for their school. For more details, see www.gyop.potato.org.uk
  • QVC are broadcasting two one hour fundraising shows on Friday 16th March. £1 from every product sold will be given to Garden Re-Leaf/Greenfingers.
