Garden Futures – An event not to miss

The HTA Garden Futures Conference, which will be held at London’s Millbank Media Centre on Wednesday 12 October, will provide the latest information on the economy and the retail environment, market information and consumer trends, as well as discussion on the future of the garden industry.
 
HTA President Caroline Owen says, “These are challenging times and in order to survive and prosper businesses need to be armed with the latest information to allow them to stay ahead of the competition.”

Speakers include Stephen Robertson, Director General of the British Retail Consortium; Dennis Turner, HSBC Chief Economist; Diarmuid Gavin, Garden Designer; Sally Beswick from Shine Research; Carol Paris, Operations Director at Garden & Leisure; Pippa Goodman of the Future Foundation; Pete Doyle of e-commerce specialist Social Retail, and Professor Alan Knight, newly appointed chairman of Defra’s new taskforce on peat reduction.

Gardenforum will lead a discussion of current trends and the future of the garden industry. The panel will include Boyd Douglas-Davies of Hillview Garden Centres; Malcolm Scott, leading garden centre planning advisor; James Barnes, CEO of Dobbies Garden Centres, and Geoff Caesar from the Bransford Webbs Plant Company.
 
The programme will be closed by Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson, who is set to inspire with the story of how he kept at the top of his game over such a long period and will look forward to what we might expect in our Olympic year.
 
The HTA Garden Futures dinner will be held the evening before the conference at Altitude 360°, which offers an uninterrupted, breathtaking view of the London skyline and its prominent landmarks.
