Applications open for YPHA management development programme
Applications have opened for the second Young People in Horticulture Association management development programme, with the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation confirmed as headline sponsor.
The nine-day residential course is aimed at YPHA members who already have management responsibility and are looking to develop their leadership skills. The programme is being delivered by leadership specialist Lindsay Muir of Cedar Associates and covers strategic planning, communication, coaching, people management, accountability and personal effectiveness.
Wish to hear from smaller and independent businesses.
Funding from the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation, together with YPHA, The GCA Trust and the British Ornamentals Association, will provide a £1,000 subsidy for each successful delegate. This reduces the employer contribution to £650 for the full programme, including accommodation and meals. The support is intended particularly to help smaller and independent horticultural businesses access structured management training.
Natalie Boynton, programme lead, said one of the strengths of the first course was the mix of people in the room, with managers from different businesses, sectors and backgrounds sharing ideas and building a network that continued after the training had finished. Liam Cleary, YPHA founder and a member of the inaugural cohort, said there was a particular wish to hear from smaller and independent businesses.
