YPHA strengthens member wellbeing provision
The Young People in Horticulture Association has announced the addition of three new Mental Health First Aiders to its member wellbeing provisions. This initiative is supported by YPHA’s charity partner, Perennial, and reinforces the association’s ongoing commitment to member wellbeing.
The newly appointed Mental Health First Aiders, Adam Stewart, George Holmes, and Jess Dabell, have each completed Mental Health First Aid training courses hosted and funded by Perennial.
They bring diverse backgrounds and viewpoints to the role and are available via personal YPHA email addresses, providing a confidential and accessible channel for members seeking support.
Perennial
Perennial is the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works with plants, trees, flowers or grass, and their families.
They offer free advice, information and support to all those in horticulture whether working or retired, at any stage of life .
Emily McCurrie, Perennial’s Programme Manager - Health Prevention, expressed her pleasure in having Adam, George, and Jess join their network of Mental Health First Aiders. She said, “They’re contributing to a great area of need within the industry.
People in the industry do not need to struggle alone
“At Perennial, we know many workers are living with poor mental health and need support. The charity can’t do this alone and it’s encouraging to see industry workers taking ownership of the mental health agenda and being proactive in taking it forward.
“It means people in the industry do not need to struggle alone and have someone to talk to who understands the challenges of working in the industry”.
