YPHA meets unnamed Begonia, ready for them to launch
It was an early start for the 10 YPHA members starting the first ever Launch Success challenge with a trip to the Netherlands.
Their first masterclass was given by Floramedia, where they learnt about label production, branding and photography.
Ella Miles, one of the 10 delegates said, “I could see through the delivery of their teaching that the employees at Floramedia were so passionate about their role in this industry.”
Second stop: Beekenkamp Plants
The YPHA’s next stop was Beekenkamp Plants, where they learnt the art of Begonia breeding and witnessed the company’s fascinating operations. It was here that they set eyes on the brand-new Begonia variety that the members will be launching at the end of this programme.
Ella was inspired by what she had learnt over the previous days, saying, “Ideas for the launch began rushing around in my head.
“I had never imagined the scale of the operations that take place and I have discovered areas of our industry that I hadn’t even considered before.
Friendliness within the horticultural industry
“Our hosts, Floramedia and Beekenkamp Plants, strengthened my perception of the friendliness within the horticultural industry. I feel privileged to have this opportunity to learn from industry experts.”
This first course was a time of bonding for the YPHA members. Ella explained, “Another highlight of the trip was the time spent with the other Launch Success candidates. The time spent getting to know each other, understanding the diversity of roles within the group and discussing our individual journeys into the industry was fascinating.
“Thank you to the YPHA and our sponsors, this unique opportunity wouldn’t be possible without your support.”
