Stagecraft appoints new managing director
Seb Smith, 50, is the new managing director of leading shopfit and garden centre design business Stagecraft. He takes over from founder Tom Davis, who will move to the chairman’s role.
Seb has a strong background in retail display having previously worked for international display business Displayplanand before that with Display Creatives.
As director of Displayplan’s retail division Seb created a £10.5 million business from scratch in just four years. During his career he has delivered large retail programmes for major brands such as M & S, Gap, Clarks shoes, Nike and Banana Republic. He also has experience as a publisher with trade and consumer magazines.
Seb said: “I would like Stagecraft to build on its success as a leading company not only in Mid-Wales but both Nationally and Internationally. I want us to continue our reputation as a business that produces quality and can be trusted.
“Our move now to a much larger factory signals our intent to service the significant changes now happening within the industry’’.
Commenting on Seb’s appointment Tom Davis, who started Stagecraft 30 years ago, said:” This was always part of my succession plan. As chairman I shall continue to work with Seb on product design and development.”
