Squire's Martin Breddy sets retirement date
Martin joined Squire’s as managing director in May 2016, overseeing steady growth in sales and profit in his early years at the helm.
His calm leadership helped the business negotiate the challenges posed by the Covid and Post-Covid period, emerging with a strong platform for renewed growth, and with Squire’s local identity and community reputation, enhanced.
Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, said, “Martin’s leadership, enthusiasm and business acumen has served us well since he joined.
"He has ensured the Squire’s proposition remains sharp and relevant as our customer base evolves. His passion for great customer service and commitment to our team members, at all levels, will leave a lasting mark. We will all miss him greatly and wish him all the very best in his retirement.”
Martin Breddy replied, “I feel privileged and fortunate to have spent the last nine years of my career in the wonderful business that is Squire’s. I will miss the constant and ever-changing challenges that our sector throws up. But even more, I will miss the camaraderie and support of everyone at Squire’s and in the wider horticultural industry.”
Martin has a long and successful career within the horticulture industry. Before joining Squire’s Garden Centres he spent over a decade with the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. He was promoted to the Managing Director position UK in 2005 and subsequently took on the role of Regional Vice President in charge of the UK and Asia Pacific areas.
