SGD appoints Chief Operating Officer
The Society of Garden Designers has appointed Craig Moyes as its Chief Operating Officer, effective from 20 April 2017.
Craig will report to the SGD Chair, Philippa O’Brien, and the SGD Council. He will be responsible for driving forward an ambitious programme of developments, including increasing membership, supporting members and their professional development, promoting excellence and professional standards in garden design and supporting Council in the delivery of major projects, such as the SGD Awards and conferences.
To date the SGD has predominantly been run by members, for members and this newly created, part-time role marks a shift in the development and future growth of the Society.
Philippa O’Brien, Chair of the SGD said: “I am delighted that Craig is joining us as Chief Operating Officer. I very much hope that everyone in the Society will benefit from having a new permanent member of staff, and I know that Council will be deeply relieved to have someone to share the workload with.”
Craig joins the SGD from Reed Travel Exhibitions where he spent almost 10 years working as a Portfolio Director in the meetings and travel industry, responsible for six events in six continents. On his appointment, Craig Moyes said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Society and I am very much looking forward to contributing to its success and to the challenges ahead.”
