Second year success for Bransford Webbs apprentice of the year

Sam Evans, Apprentice with The Bransford Webbs Plant Company, has won the Midlands Regional Growers Apprentice of the Year Award, presented yesterday by Nicky Chapman at the RHS Malvern Spring Festival.
Sam joined Bransford Webbs in September 2024 on a two-year scheme, working towards a Level 3 Crop Technician apprenticeship in partnership with Pershore College, which he will complete later this year. He has recently become a Grower Team Leader.
Sam was also an IPPS Europe 6 pack award winner in 2025, which enabled him to attend the Annual Conference in Peterborough. The three-day long conference offered him the chance to attend a range of lectures and visits, as well as the opportunity to meet other growers from across Europe. During his apprentice Sam has also been awarded the BOA / Peter Seabrook Scholarship to support his horticultural studies.
“This award is very much deserved, and we are extremely proud of Sam”, commented Karl O’Neill, Technical Production Director. “He has been an exemplary apprentice from day one and quite rightly gained a permanent growing position with us very early on. He’s enthusiastic, hardworking, interested in everything, and has a fantastic attitude, I’m excited to see what the future holds for Sam”.
Sam joins a long line of successful apprentices from The Bransford Webbs Plant Company, dating back to the late 1980’s, with several of the current grower, supervisory and management staff beginning their careers in this way.
