Pupils learn about managing land sensitively with Durstons

Company: Durston Garden Products

Pupils from Westonzoyland Village Primary School in the heart of Somerset paid a visit last week to Durston Garden Products to learn all about the importance of managing land sensitively.

In particular the pupils were taught about the development of Gro-Boost, the peat free organic substrate which is blended into Durstons Multi-Purpose Compost.

The children who visited Durston Garden Products spent the day with Chris Durston (Sales & Marketing Director) & Ruth Green (National Sales Manager) who gave them a guided tour of the factory and land. They explained how the team at Durstons takes great pride in its level of sustainability. With a century of investment in the local area, the company is committed to long term environmental responsibility across its full product range, which also includes a peat-free multi-purpose compost.

Gro-Boost was recognised by BIRA (British Independent Retailers Association) last year, when Durstons was awarded Best Garden Product Award for 2013 for their extensive range of growing media, soil improvers and other garden products, incorporating its innovative ingredient ‘Gro-Boost’.

The award was particularly poigniant to Durstons as it acknowledges how seriously the company takes its environmental responsibilities by managing its land sensitively and restoring and adding new wildlife habitats wherever they can.
