Millbrook raises more than £2,000 for chYps
Staff at The Millbrook Garden Company recently (November, 2013) presented a cheque for more than £2,000 to its Charity of the Year.
The company, which has garden centres in Gravesend and Highgrove, Kent and Crowborough, East Sussex, donated £2,103.41 to chYps Children’s Hospice at Home.
Tammy Woodhouse, Managing Director of The Millbrook Garden Company, said: “We raised the money through our events and collection boxes during 2013. I also took part in a Sponsored Chilli Dip in March. I swam in a freezing swimming pool and managed to raise £970 for chYps.
“We would like to thank all our customers who donated any money throughout the year. chYps is such a worthy cause as it provides full hospice care for children at home. We have also decided to continue supporting the charity in 2014 too.”
chYps is the Children and Young Peoples’ Service of EllenorLions Hospices. It is the UK’s first children’s hospice at home service and one of only a very few acute services providing oncology and end of life care to children in the home.
The charity provides care for the whole family and its services extend across the whole of West Kent.
Rachel Holweger, Director of Fundraising at chYps, said: “We are so grateful to Millbrook for supporting the charity. Thanks to everyone who helped raise such a fantastic amount for chYps.
“We are Kent’s only children’s hospice at home, and as a charity we rely on the generosity of the local community to be able to provide vital end-of-life, respite and cancer care to seriously ill babies, children and young people.”
The Millbrook Garden Company Limited is a family-run, independent company and serves the South East of England.
