Kingfisher CEO Thierry Garnier to Step Down After Seven Years

Kingfisher has announced that Chief Executive Officer Thierry Garnier is to leave the group after nearly seven years in the role, with a formal search for his successor now underway. The news was confirmed in a statement issued on 6 May 2026.

Garnier will depart to take up a senior leadership position outside Kingfisher’s operating markets. He will remain in post during his 12‑month notice period to ensure what the Board describes as a “smooth and orderly transition”.

Claudia Arney, Chair of Kingfisher, paid tribute to Garnier’s leadership, highlighting his role in delivering the Powered by Kingfisher strategy, steering the business through the pandemic, and accelerating innovation across marketplaces and trade operations. She said he leaves behind “an experienced leadership team” positioned to continue the group’s strategic progress.

Garnier said it had been “a real privilege” to lead the business and emphasised his commitment to maintaining momentum during the transition period.

The Nomination Committee will lead a full review of internal and external candidates as part of the succession process. Kingfisher confirmed that details of Garnier’s remuneration arrangements will be disclosed in line with statutory requirements.

A departure date will be announced in due course.
