HTA Conference welcomes back Economist Tim Leunig

The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) has confirmed that economist and policy expert Dr Tim Leunig will return as a featured speaker at Horticulture, The Conference on Thursday 25 September at London’s Barbican Centre.

Back by popular demand after his standout session in 2023, Dr Leunig will join HTA Director of Public Affairs Jennifer Pheasey for a fireside chat titled “Making Sense of the UK’s Economic and Political Future.” The session will unpack the key global and domestic forces shaping the horticulture industry—from climate policy and international trade to political strategy.

Dr Leunig is a former London School of Economics academic who has advised two UK Chancellors and helped design the Government’s COVID-19 furlough scheme. He currently works with NESTA and Public First Consulting, and is also a keen gardener, opening his own garden for the National Gardens Scheme.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Tim back to the HTA Conference,” said Jennifer Pheasey. “His rare combination of economic expertise and horticultural passion offers invaluable insight at a time when our sector is navigating significant change.”

Dr Leunig added: “The HTA is my favourite conference—because I love gardening and because the people are friendly and interesting. I hope to see you all there.”

HTA members can take advantage of early bird tickets from just £99, with additional discounts for group bookings of three or more. The offer runs until 31 July. Full details and booking are available at hta.org.uk/conference.
