HSBC experts return for GCA Conference

HSBC’s Chris Hare and James Sawley will return to the Garden Centre Association’s annual conference in January 2027 following the popularity of their session earlier this year.
The pair will provide delegates with a big-picture view of the macroeconomic landscape, alongside a closer look at the UK retail economy.
GCA Chairman Ben Harrison said their return was a direct response to member demand following the success of their 2026 presentations.
Chris, part of HSBC’s European Economics team, will explore key economic trends and the outlook for the UK, drawing on his expertise in inflation, housing and long-term growth.
James, HSBC’s Head of Retail & Leisure, will focus on the retail landscape and the opportunities and pressures facing businesses.
GCA CEO Peter Burks said the insights provided by the pair would help members understand how wider economic developments translate into real-world business impacts.
Their sessions will take place on January 26, 2027, as part of the GCA’s annual conference, which brings together garden centre professionals from across the UK.
The GCA represents nearly 230 garden centres and supports members through information sharing, networking and its inspection programme.
