Google leader to speak on AI at 2026 GCA Conference

The Garden Centre Association (GCA) has announced that Edoardo Bortolato, a member of Google’s leadership team for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will be among the keynote speakers at its 2026 Annual Conference, taking place at Carden Park, Chester, on January 26, 2026.
Edoardo, who heads Google’s Large Customer Sales Team for Italy, Spain and Portugal, will speak in a personal capacity about artificial intelligence (AI)—exploring how it can enhance business efficiency and transform the customer experience within the garden retail sector.
Ben Harrison, GCA Chairman Elect and Operations Director at Haskins Garden Centres, said: “We’re delighted that Edoardo has taken time out of his busy schedule to join us. His talk will focus on how AI can help improve operational efficiency and the customer journey. While he’s joining us outside of his formal work remit, his personal insights and experience will be invaluable.”
Before joining Google in 2018, Edoardo built an impressive international career with roles at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Italy and the Middle East, Tesco in the UK, and STMicroelectronics in Italy and Japan, gaining extensive expertise in business development, sales, and strategy. Beyond his corporate career, he is also the founder of the footwear and accessories brand Bote A Mano.
Peter Burks, GCA CEO, added: “It’s a real coup to have such an experienced and internationally recognised sales expert on our speaker line-up. Edoardo will bring a unique perspective on how AI is reshaping retail and offer valuable insights that our members can apply directly in their businesses.”
The GCA’s 60th anniversary conference promises a forward-thinking agenda, with a blend of expert talks, networking, and practical takeaways for members.
