Ernest Wertheim dies at 100

One of the biggest influences on UK and world garden centre design, Ernest Wertheim has died at the age of 100.

John Herbert of the European DIY Association writes, “It is with much sadness that we must report the death of Ernest Wertheim, who passed away in California on August the 4th 2020. Ernest was 100 years old.

“Ernest was probably the most well known global consultant in the garden centre sector, having planned leading and innovative garden centres in the USA and Europe since the 1960s.”

He was influential in the design many UK garden centres, including Haskins.
