David Colegrave Foundation appoints new Trustees

Company: The David Colegrave Foundation

The David Colegrave Foundation (DCF) is pleased to announce two new appointments to its Board of Trustees.

Neil Gow, Director of Fresh @ Burcot Garden Centre and Nigel Wait, Managing Director of Newbridge Nurseries recently awarded ‘Most Improved Garden Centre 2014’ by the Garden Centre Association, join as new Trustees. They bring with them valuable experience and understanding of the industry, the retail side of horticulture in particular, which will be beneficial in supporting commercially focussed scholarship applications.

Jeff Colegrave, DCF Chairman, said, “I am delighted that our new trustees have agreed to serve for what we all believe is a very worthwhile cause. The Foundation has been in existence for over 20 years now; recently we have increased the scale and scope of our scholarship grants and are making a real impact in ensuring that the industry attracts and trains some bright young people”.

Neil Gow said, “I look forward to making a contribution to the work of the David Colegrave Foundation and giving something back to the industry that I have enjoyed earning my living from”.

Nigel Wait, who has nearly 20 years of experience in retail as well as a background in growing from Barnsfold Nurseries, Protected Ornamentals Grower of the Year winner in the UK Grower Awards 2014, said, “I have had a long and successful career in this business and one I have enjoyed immensely since starting out many years ago. It will give me a lot of pleasure to help to bring new young blood into our industry and hopefully get as much enjoyment out of it as I did when starting out”.

The new Trustees will sit alongside existing Trustees: Jeff Colegrave, Peter Seabrook, Stuart Lowen, John Gibson, Alys Fowler, Adam Dunnet, Brian Crosby and Anna Ball.

Scholarships from the DCF will be available in September 2014 when the next Scholarship Season opens. For more details on all of the opportunities available go to www.davidcolegravefoundation.org.uk and click on scholarships.
