British Garden Centres welcomes new buyers
British Garden Centres, the UK’s largest family-run garden centre group, is delighted to announce significant changes within its plant buying team. This move aims to drive forward the company's plant offering across its 65 stores and cater to the evolving needs and preferences of customers' gardens.
2025 seems Mandy Warry and Phoebe Cater joining the plant team. With both having an extensive background in buying, Mandy and Phoebe will play a pivotal role in nurturing existing partnerships and forging new ones, ensuring that British Garden Centres continues to provide exceptional outdoor and indoor plants in all its centres across the country.
Mandy joins the team from Langlands Garden Centres, which was acquired by the British Garden Centres group in the summer of 2024. Mandy has fantastic horticultural experience and will become a valuable asset to the team.
Phoebe comes to the plant buying team with extensive experience, having worked at Cherry Lane Garden Centres / QD Stores, where she held various positions and managed multiple categories in plant buying. Her wealth of knowledge and expertise will be a valuable asset to the group.
Tom Cook has left the British Garden Centres family after five years, having previously worked as Horticultural Manager at the Hillview Group for 11 years before it was acquired by the Stubbs. During his time at British Garden Centres, Tom played a pivotal role in driving the plant-buying strategy, sourcing and selecting the highest-quality plants for their stores.

The British Garden Centres plant team is now headed up by Scott and led by Julian Palphramand with support from Andy, Mandy and Phoebe.
British Garden Centres (BGC) is the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group with 65 centres around the country. The group is owned and led by The Stubbs family, who also own and operate Woodthorpe Leisure Park in Lincolnshire.
BGC was launched in 1987 with the opening of Woodthorpe Garden Centre by brothers Charles and Robert Stubbs. Since 2018 it has expanded rapidly with the acquisition of 50 garden centres allowing it to grow from its heartland to the business it is now with 65 garden centres spread from Carmarthen to Ramsgate, Wimborne to East Durham.
The group has a team of 2,700 colleagues working across the garden centres, restaurants, growing nurseries, distribution centres, Woodthorpe Leisure Park, and Woody’s Restaurant & Bar.
