£2.3 million garden centre restaurant celebrates 1st year success
The new £2.3 million restaurant opened 12 months ago at the Haskins Garden Centre at West End, Southampton, has seen a 75% rise in turnover compared to original restaurant. To celebrate the success, champagne was opened by Haskins’ Chief Executive Julian Winfield, the centre’s General Manager with Matt Hill and Group Catering Manager Carl Hadfield.
“Since the new 460 seat restaurant opened we have served over 180,000 meals, 300,000 teas and coffees and have hosted a variety of day time and evening events,” said Julian Winfield. “We are delighted that the investment in the expansion of the original restaurant built in 1996 has proved to be a hit with our customers.”
Catering now contributes 20% of the £31 million turnover generated by the 4 centres owned by what is still a family business. The restaurant employs over 70 full and part time staff.
