Welsh Garden Centres can reopen from 22nd March

As part of a package of measures, beginning the process of unlocking the strict coronavirus regulations, First Minister Mark Drakeford has announced that while non-essential shops must remain closed until 12 April, garden centres can reopen from 22 March. At the same time, Restrictions on the sale of non-essential items in supermarkets will be lifted.

Welcoming the news, HTA chairman James Barnes said, “This is the news the industry has been waiting for…

“Now we need to see similar action from ministers in Northern Ireland and Scotland, to help save our sector there and provide the health and wellbeing benefits of plants, gardens and nature.”

Garden centres in England have been categorised as essential retailers and are trading.
