Hollands Field of Gold shines at Keukenhof till 10 May
Keukenhof, Lisse (NL) is entering its final week, with JUB Holland’s 2026 show border ‘The Field of Gold’ on display until 10 May.
Designed by RHS Bulb Expert Carien van Boxtel, the long-flowering, layered scheme places yellow at the centre of the palette, softened with apricot and peach and contrasted by dark accents to introduce depth and shadow.
The planting draws inspiration from Sting’s ‘Fields of Gold’ and Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Wheatfield with Crows’, aiming for a border that changes character as different bulb layers come into flower.
Early-season botanical tulips, crocuses, irises and daffodils are followed by later waves including tulips, fritillarias, irises and camassia, with colour shifting from fresh spring tones to richer golds, blues and near-black.
JUB Holland uses the Keukenhof border as a testing ground for flowering sequence, height, density and colour combinations, then translates the design into a bulb mixture for landscape and retail customers, enabling the scheme to be replicated in parks, public spaces, gardens and point-of-sale displays after the season ends.
