Greenfingers’ Charity Shield returns to GCA Conference for 2026

The much-loved Greenfingers’ Charity Shield will make its return at the Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) annual conference at Carden Park, Chester, in January 2026. Garden centre and horticultural staff are encouraged to sign up and take part in the fun-filled fundraising event.
Taking place on Sunday, January 25, the competition will see delegates divided into four teams of up to 15 people each. Participants will tackle a range of outdoor pursuits including a driving range, axe throwing, archery, and laser clay shooting — all held in an all-weather area close to the hotel.
The event costs £120 per person including VAT, with all proceeds going to Greenfingers, the charity dedicated to creating beautiful and therapeutic gardens in children’s hospices across the UK. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.
That evening, delegates can enjoy a Greenfingers’ Wine Tasting and Quiz with buffet dinner from 7-10pm, also costing £120 per person. This special event celebrates the launch of Greenfingers’ 30th Anniversary Appeal and offers another chance to raise vital funds.
GCA CEO Peter Burks said: “We’re so thrilled that the Greenfingers’ Charity Shield is back for 2026, our 60th anniversary year. It’s always a fantastic opportunity for friendly competition and an even better way to support a wonderful cause.”
