YPHA hosts exclusive Maelor Forest Nurseries visit

Company: YPHA

The Young People in Horticulture Association (YPHA) is inviting members from across the UK to an exclusive visit to Maelor Forest Nurseries on Friday 7 August, encouraging employers to invest in young professionals by supporting attendance.

The event, the first of two YPHA member events planned for 2026, offers horticultural professionals aged 35 and under the chance to broaden their knowledge, build industry connections and explore the forestry sector.

Hosted at one of the UK's leading forest tree nurseries, attendees will enjoy behind-the-scenes access to learn how Maelor Forest Nurseries produces around 30 million trees annually, supporting forestry, timber supply, biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

The programme includes a guided nursery tour, lunch and a talk by Ben Goh, Trees of the Future, examining the opportunities and challenges facing forestry and tree production, followed by an optional networking dinner.

YPHA Committee Member Jeremy Costello said the visit provides a valuable opportunity for members to meet new people, learn from industry experts and experience a different side of horticulture.

The event takes place from 10.30am to 3.30pm at Maelor Forest Nurseries near Whitchurch. It costs £15 per member, is open to all YPHA members regardless of sector or discipline, and places are limited.
