Wyevale Nurseries retains Plant Healthy certification

Company: Wyevale Nurseries

Wyevale Nurseries has retained Plant Healthy Certification for a sixth consecutive year, recognising its continued commitment to plant health and biosecurity.

The Hereford-based commercial grower successfully passed an independent audit against the Plant Health Management Standard, demonstrating robust biosecurity practices across its operations.

Julia Giermaniuk, Plant Healthy Lead at Wyevale Nurseries, said the certification reflected the commitment of colleagues across the business, with effective biosecurity relying on training, people and attention to detail.

The nursery isolates, inspects and records incoming stock before it enters production areas, while detailed records enable plant movements to be traced and cleaning and disinfection procedures help minimise risks.

Staff across multiple departments receive ongoing training to identify potential biosecurity threats and respond appropriately, with early reporting and accurate records supporting swift action when required.

Wyevale Nurseries also seeks to reduce risks through responsible sourcing, approved suppliers and a focus on locally sourced stock where possible.

Plant Healthy Limited said certification recognises businesses maintaining high standards of plant biosecurity, while helping protect UK plant life from pests and diseases and supporting the wider horticultural sector.
