Tong Garden Centre hosts rose pruning masterclass

A Bradford garden centre is hosting a rose pruning masterclass with one of the UK’s leading rose growers later this month.

On Tuesday 24 February, an expert from family-owned breeder David Austin Roses will lead two hands-on sessions at Tong Garden Centre, taking place at 10am and 2pm in The Mezzanine.

Yorkshire Garden Centres’ commercial plant manager Marc Salama said February is the ideal time to prune roses and that the sessions will give gardeners the confidence and skills needed to care for their plants correctly.

Due to strong demand for the morning event, a second afternoon session has been added. Each session will include a two-and-a-half-hour practical masterclass, a Q&A and refreshments.

Tickets cost £65 and include a David Austin rose for the practical session, along with the chance to win a Sir David Beckham rose, which will be launched to the public at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May.

Tong Garden Centre is part of the Yorkshire Garden Centres group, which also operates sites in Tingley, Otley, Bingley, York, Scarborough and Huddersfield.
