Sunflower seeds grow charity funds
Squire’s Garden Centres offered a free pack of sunflower seeds during the month of May, in return for a donation to the local charities that each Squire’s centre supports*, culminating in raising over £1,000.
Children were encouraged to go along to their local centre and pick up a free pack of sunflower seeds and a growing guide, containing expert tips to ensure the sunflowers reach for the sky! A donation to the centre’s local charity was invited, with donations going directly to the local charity to help continue to raise vital funds for them.
Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “We are really keen to encourage children to get involved in growing their own plants - and sunflowers are great to capture fascinated young minds as they can produce such amazing displays!
“This initiative has also enabled us to generate more funds for each of our 16 centre’s chosen local charities, which has raised a tremendous amount, while getting children interested in growing from seed.
“We are looking forward to the next stage of the initiative in August, as we invite families to send in photographs of their children next to their tallest sunflower!”
