Greenfingers trekkers near summit as fundraising climbs

Company: Greenfingers

The Greenfingers Charity Kilimanjaro Challenge team has reached day six of its trek to Africa’s highest peak, with fundraising now exceeding £227,000.

The group of 23 trekkers, many from across the horticulture industry, has faced increasingly challenging conditions, including difficult terrain, extreme temperatures and high altitude.

With the summit now within reach, the charity is encouraging supporters to help push fundraising beyond the £250,000 mark before the team begins its descent.

Providing an update from the mountain, trek organiser and Greenfingers Charity Ambassador Kate Ebbens said the challenge has tested both physical and mental resilience.

She praised the camaraderie within the group, highlighting the support and encouragement team members continue to give one another during the toughest stages of the climb.

Funds raised from the challenge will support the creation of a new Greenfingers Garden at Naomi & Jacks in Winchester.

Designed by award-winning garden designer Helen Elks-Smith, the garden will provide a therapeutic outdoor space for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

The project aims to offer comfort, respite and opportunities for families to spend valuable time together away from clinical environments.

Greenfingers is urging colleagues, suppliers, customers and supporters across the industry to help the team achieve its £250,000 fundraising target.
