Green-fingered gardeners help raise £10,000 from Vitax Q4 sales

Company: Vitax

A nationwide fundraising campaign by Vitax Limited and Greenfingers Charity has raised £10,000 to support the creation of therapeutic gardens for life-limited children and their families across the UK.

Gardeners across the UK have come together to raise £10,000 for the national children’s charity Greenfingers, thanks to a heartwarming fundraising initiative led by Vitax Limited. The funds will help create and maintain therapeutic gardens that bring comfort, joy, and connection to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Launched last year, the partnership between Vitax and Greenfingers pledged to donate 25p from every 2.5kg promotional pack of Vitax Q4 All Purpose Plant Food sold through garden centres and nurseries. The specially branded packs quickly caught the eye of green-fingered shoppers, and over the past 12 months have helped generate much-needed funds to support the charity’s work.

Vitax presented the £10,000 donation at the opening of a new therapeutic garden at Acorns Children’s Hospice in Walsall—one of many tranquil outdoor spaces created by Greenfingers to give children and families a place to relax and reconnect with nature. The new ‘Centred Garden’, designed by Vanessa and Rachel of Vara Garden Design and built by Paul Taylor Landscaping, offers a safe, stimulating, and peaceful environment for children of all abilities to spend time together away from the bedside.

Reflecting on the initiative, Anja Gooding, chair of Vitax, said: “Greenfingers is a charity that is close to our hearts. The positive benefits outdoor spaces can have on both mental and physical wellbeing are remarkable, and we’re thrilled to present Greenfingers with £10,000 to help continue their life-changing work. Presenting the cheque in the grounds of one of their gardens is a fitting reminder of why we chose them as our charity partner.”

For Greenfingers Charity, partnerships like this are essential in bringing therapeutic gardens to life across the UK. The charity collaborates with hospices to design and build outdoor spaces that engage the senses and provide a much-needed sanctuary for families navigating the most difficult of circumstances.

Accepting the donation, Linda Petrons, Greenfingers’ director of fundraising and communications, said: “The gardens we create make a tangible difference to the children and families who enjoy them, but we couldn’t continue without support from partners like Vitax. Each promotional pack of Vitax Q4 sold has helped us move closer to our goal of creating more gardens that offer comfort, hope, and happy memories. We are so grateful to everyone who took part in this initiative—each purchase has truly made a difference.”
