Bransford Webbs says Biologicals are the future of pest and disease control
Bransford Webbs have been using biological controls for more than 15 years. They have become a fundamental part of our integrated approach to crop protection, and we now invest seven times more annually on biological controls than all chemicals combined.
When used in conjunction with optimal cultural control measures and effective irrigation and feed regimes, we see biological controls as the only sustainable method going forward.
To boost biodiversity, we sow wildflower areas and have wildlife corridors across our site. They look good too and help aid staff wellbeing! Since using fewer chemicals, we have seen a marked increase in natural predators on the nursery.
“Biological Controls are now our primary source of Pest & Disease control in protected areas”, commented Karl O’Neill, Propagation and Technical Manager. “We have invested heavily in staff training and commit time to crop monitoring, to enable us to have an integrated crop management approach that works across the site”.
