The Range has entered the game, a lot of Garden Centres will have to up the way they retail.

Now The Range has entered the game, a lot of Garden Centres will have to up the way they retail.....do the buyers ever go into BandM, The Range, Etc ? Or are they on another planet milking the firms they work for every month for massive salaries and lovely all expenses paid trips to the shows..., we travel around the UK on buying trips in out lorry, and usually stop at Garden Centres to look around and a bite to eat, many are tired, over priced, trying to sell old stock places that have seen better days and are sure to fall by the wayside, some are outstanding, bang up to date, especially the restaurants that bring in the older customer, but maybe a minimum 30% more expensive on similar products to these "big" boys. A lot of places need to wake up or go under i think.

I doubt if the stores you mention trade on "30%" gross margin. As a former supplier to grocery chains, they are out for as much as they can squeeze. Margins might be lower, but then there's " promotional support" payments and "development surcharges" and "transport support". Pricing structures in garden centre retail remain way behind the Majors... and long may it remain so.

I suggest you need to wake up! GCs have their own draw, their own consumer base. Consumers that don’t want to visit a big ‘warehouse’ style store… hence why our great British GCs have been around steadfast for many many years. The likes of the range, b&m etc. have nothing and will never have anything to offer consumers that a traditional GC does. Ignore the gloom GCs, you’re great and doing just fine. Resilient!
