The beautiful new Fair-Trade Handwoven Artisan planters from Wildlife World

Company: Wildlife World

The stunning new artisan planter range made from Hogla, a type of seagrass that is considered a weed, and recycled saris are Fair-Trade products that help the disadvantaged women in Bangladesh who make them by hand.

30th May 2023, Wildlife World, based in Chavenage, Nr Tetbury, Gloucestershire, is continuing it’s support of Fair-Trade, fair wages and environmental responsibility with its Artisan planters pre-released in April. Following the huge popularity of our award-winning Artisan Nesters the handmade planters are made by the same artisans with renewable and recycled materials and create opportunities for economically disadvantaged women in Bangladesh.

Mark Pitman, Managing Director at Wildlife World, explains, “We are very proud and excited to add the Fair-Trade Artisan Planters to our Fair Trade product range. A new ‘for the home product’ following the huge success of our Artisan Nesters. Working with organisations that positively influence the world we live in is something we strive to do as often as possible at Wildlife World. The conservation charities we work with significantly impact nature, whereas organisations such as the WFTO have an equally important role in helping those less fortunate in the developing world.”

Working with a Not-for-Profit World Fair-Trade Organisation supplier guarantees that the Wildlife Worlds Artisan Nester range focuses on social enterprises that put the artisans’ interests first. The WFTO directly impacts over 950,000 livelihoods by supporting them through their affiliated enterprises’ operations and supply chains. These enterprises transform local communities, pioneer upcycling, empower women, with over 70% of the workers and artisans being women, champion refugee rights and practice organic farming. Wildlife World has had conservation at the heart of its ethics for over 20 years. Using recycled materials where possible, FSC certified timber, renewable energy and supporting a range of wildlife charities and rewilding projects.

Mark continues, “We’ve already experienced a lot of interest in our Artisan Planters. Our trade customers find them beautiful, easy to display, functional and love the fact that they are supporting the women who make them through the Fair-Trade Organisation.”
