The award-winning GROW e-learning platform from the Garden Centre Association has reached a major milestone with the launch of its 100th online training course.

The new course, titled “Basic Trees”, has been developed to help garden centre staff better support customers with tree selection, planting and ongoing care.

Available to members of both the Garden Centre Association and the Horticultural Trades Association, the course explores tree growth, maintenance and long-term health, providing practical knowledge for retail teams.

Antony Snow said trees remain one of the most popular product categories within garden centres and highlighted the importance of helping customers make informed choices for their gardens.

Launched in 2014 with just 10 courses, GROW now supports more than 12,000 users nationwide and continues to expand its educational offering for the garden retail sector.

The platform operates as a self-funding, not-for-profit initiative, with any surplus reinvested into developing new courses and improving the system for members.

Peter Burks said the new course arrives at a particularly relevant time, with growing public awareness around the role trees play in climate resilience, wellbeing and mental health.

GROW provides training across a broad range of subjects including horticulture, customer service, food safety, regulated sales and health and safety, with content developed by industry specialists and experienced GCA members.

The Garden Centre Association represents more than 200 garden centres across the UK and continues to support members through training, inspections and knowledge sharing.
