The Garden Centre Association (GCA) has announced the launch of a new Food Safety Level 3 course on its award-winning GROW (Garden Retail Online Workshops) platform. Released on October 6, 2025, it marks the 98th course now available to both GCA and Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) members.

GROW’s Instructional Designer, Antony Snow, said: “Food safety is a legal requirement for any business handling food, so I’m delighted to add this course to our offering. Designed for supervisors and managers, it provides comprehensive knowledge of food safety management, legislation and supervisory skills.”

The course is split into 11 bite-sized modules, combining theory with practical applications to help learners maintain high standards, ensure compliance and protect both staff and customers. GROW now supports more than 12,000 users nationwide, offering flexible online training tailored to the garden centre industry.

GCA Chief Executive Peter Burks said: “GROW is a valuable and budget-friendly training resource, praised by members for its flexibility. Available 24/7, it enables garden centre staff to develop skills at their own pace and convenience.”

The new course costs £49 +VAT per learner and is immediately available to existing subscribers. For details, visit www.gca.org.uk/gca-grow-information or contact grow@gca.org.uk.

GROW also offers 97 other expert-written courses covering horticulture, customer service, food safety, regulated sales, and health and safety—each designed to help garden centre teams deliver outstanding service and compliance year-round.
